You’ll often spot us at Franklin’s annual Pumpkin Fest, Cowee Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Playing with Pollinators at Winding Stair, the Macon County Farmers Market, and many more locations around Macon County.
We also make sure every child receives a brand-new book during kindergarten registration at each Macon County elementary school.
With the help of local businesses, generous donors, and community partners, we’ve built a countywide effort to collect and share gently used books with children. Books come to us from community organizations, parents, retired teachers, the Macon County Fair, the FHS Interact Club, and Fun Factory PLUS drop-off locations throughout the county.
After collection, we subsequently redistribute these books at community events all across Macon County, making it easy for families to pick up new stories to enjoy together. Our organization is now known for championing early literacy and helping families build meaningful reading time at home.
Each year, we host fun, themed parent–child reading events at the Macon County Public Library. Volunteers lead families through hands-on, literacy-focused activities that bring each theme to life. One recent favorite was our “Goodnight Moon Birthday Party,” complete with stories, games, and plenty of reading fun.
